SMILE LIKE YOU MEAN IT

It’s a new week and like every Monday, at Home, Hair & Heels we like to cheer you up and make you forget those Monday blues.

Remember my last inspiration post? Probably not, so let me remind you that one of the things I mentioned was to smile. Recently, I read some pretty interesting facts about smiling, so I decided to share them with you as a reminder of all the positive effects a simple movement of the muscles in our face can have:

Forcing yourself to smile can boost your mood
It boosts your immune system: Your body is more relaxed when you smile, which contributes to good health and a stronger immune system.
Smiles are contagious: In a study conducted in Sweden, people had difficulty frowning when they looked at other subjects who were smiling, and their muscles twitched into smiles all on their own.
 Smiles relieve stress
It’s easier to smile than to frown: Scientists have discovered that your body has to work harder and use more muscles to frown than it does to smile.
It’s a universal sign of happiness
We still smile at work: 30% of subjects in a research study smiled five to 20 times a day, and 28% smiled over 20 times per day at the office.
Smiles use from 5 to 53 facial muscles
Babies are born with the ability to smile: scientists believe that all babies are born with the ability, since even blind babies smile.

Smiling helps you get promoted: Smiles make a person seem more attractive, sociable and confident, and people who smile more are more likely to get a promotion.
Smiles are the most easily recognizable facial expression

 Women smile more than men
Smiles are more attractive than makeup: A research study conducted by Orbit Complete discovered that 69% of people find women more attractive when they smile than when they are wearing makeup.

There are 19 different types of smiles
Babies start smiling as newborns: babies start smiling in their sleep as soon as they’re born.

Also, on a side note, if you have dimples, you NEED to smile, no questions asked. I’m particularly partial to single-dimpled crooked smiles, so if you have one of those, work it! You don’t know who may fall for you…
There you have it.  Need I say more? Not only is it healthy, helpful and attractive but we all have so many reasons to smile every single day!

With lots of love and yours truly,
Sam

DO SOMETHING WITH YOUR OLD SWEATER

This DIY is a personal FAV:

It’s called DSWTOS (Do something with that old sweater)

Turn that old sweater into one of those adorable decorative sweaters that swarm your Pinterest home page. (or at least they do mine!)

This DIY takes:
  • Beads
  • Thread/needle
  • Sweater

So, here is my old sweater:

First, take your bead, and thread it into your desired place.  I did mine like polkadot style.
You can either mark where you want to place your beads, or eye-ball it, like I did.

Just do your simple- learned in YW sewing. Thread your needle, tie a knot, thread your bead, tie a knot again.

And repeat, and repeat.

Keep sewing them on in the same pattern, the same lengths apart.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnddd keep going haha

Put a polo or a button up underneath to spice it up.  And there you go!! A perfect fall sweater that is much more eye appealing!

Good luck!! It’s an easy concept, but since it’s hand sewn, make sure you have some timeJ

Quick Chicken and Broccoli Casserole

You will need:
 1 shredded chicken breast (large)
 1 bag frozen broccoli
1 can/bag cream of mushroom soup
 2 cups shredded cheese
 Salt & pepper to taste

 Preheat oven to 350°
In casserole mix chicken, broccoli and ¾ of the shredded cheese, season with salt and pepper.

Add cream of mushroom soup and mix everything together.

Add the rest of the shredded cheese as top layer

Place in oven and cook for about 20 minutes

AND THAT’S IT!! SIMPLE, EASY, AND I GUARANTEE IT WILL BE DELICIOUS! J

Fall Look MUSTS (because we love fall):

Fall is a really fun season to dress for.  Now it’s time to pull out the darker warmer colors for makeup, and accessorize your fall makeup with scarves, boots, cardigans, etc…

  1. dark lipstick is really in this season, so dark lipstick
  2. bronzer (of course!)
  3. dark eye shadows
  4. dark nail polish

So here is my look before I did the must haves for fall:

I have my scarf on, but my look can be so much more falltastic.  So I applied the dark eye-shadow first. (below pic)

I used the right two.

Then I applied my plum lipstick, and bronzer.

And finally painted my nails.

(not the best paint job, I admit!)

AND VOILA!!! It is that easy… and MY LOOK is so much more falltastic, and it’s a more subtle way to do it ladies, if you’re not yet ready for such a dramatic look, or like me, are only going to the grocery store today.

Now just throw on a cardigan or jacket, and some boots, and you’re ready for FALL!

Soulmates

Ever since I was a little girl I have believed that every one of us has something like a soulmate, someone we are meant to meet and be with for the rest of our lives and beyond. When I was younger my parents would tell me that out in the world there was a young guy getting ready just like I was to meet each other; the thought of that was something amazing to me, and almost imposible to believe.

But it is true. We all have someone we are meant to be with, if our decisions are the right ones we will be in the right place, at the right time.

Last week I had the oportunity of witnessing two people joining their lives together for life and eternity. Seeing such pure love is refreshing for my own life and marriage. It was such a great expirience taking their wedding pictures; they inspired me to work in the quality of love I give to my soulmate and people around me.

Because even though we all have a soulmate, love is something we always have to work on, always! Sometimes we need to be reminded  of what true love is; lets not forget what type of love Jesus gives us, and give that love to our soulmate and those near us.

So that someday (like my hubby always says) we become "one soul in two bodies"

Love and Kisses,
Denise
